An awesome movie by Julian Schnibel.Javier bardem really shows his versatility and endurance as an actor.Based on the autobiography of the cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas who faces persecution in revolutionary cuba because of his openly gay lifestyle.The movie takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions.Javier Bardem plays the role with such authenticity.He bears a striking resemblence to Arenas in real life.
The movie features cameos by well known hollywood actors like Johnny Depp, Sean penn etc.Their roles although short are great ones with each playing a part in a critical point in the protagonist's life.
It is evident that the director took great pain in making the movie.This one is definitely worth the time.
